Hi Cristina! he was a symbol of resistance all over the world and the most important black leader in South African history. He fought for people ´s right and the end of apartheid. In 1993 Mandela received the Novel peace prize for his work and he become the first black president of Sour Africa.
This is poem that Mandela read to his fellow prisoners while he was in prison
Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. Bye.
Hi! Nelson Mandela was a defender of the human rights he was a politician too. Nelson Mandela was a person whose life must be remembered. Some famous quote of Nelson Mandela: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." "It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
Of course I know him, he´s Nelson Mandela, the one fo the best and most recent world leaders. Let´s see, he was president of South Africa after been in jail for defending peoples rights, he granted the rights of the black people in South Africa (and all over the world with help of Martin Luther King). He done that without violence, using only words (and sports like in "Invictus"), he conquered a whole nation only brandishing his common sense and finaly he conviced the world of respect was essential. Now he´s dead and the question is: Will anyone be like Mandela, Gandhi, Luther King or even Rigoberta Menchú?, I hope so, but I´m not sure os that.
hi i surf in internet and i find a little biography: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (Xhosa pronunciation: [xoˈliːɬaɬa manˈdeːla]) (18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.
